John Veteto ( 1806-1878)

John Veteto was born 15 Apr 1806 in Tennessee ***and died 18 Feb 1878 in Leroy Coffey Co. Kansas. He Married Nancy Ann Draper, she was born 18 Dec 1808 and died 19 Apr 1859 in Leroy Kansas. He remarried to Martha Johnson 22 Nov 1859 in Leroy. She was born in Ill. He was farmer in 1870 he had 12500 in estate value and 3000 in personal value. He was very well off. In Oct 1856, he was one of the first Leroy Kansas Guards.According to the newspaper, in 1856 when the John and his family were traveling from Ill. to Kansas they were robbed by men who had US issued guns, the men stole possessions and told the family to not enter Leavenworth Kansas. During this time period Kansas was very corrupt state.

Andrew Jackson born 19 Apr 1829 Bloomington Ill. died 19 Sept 1901. Married Hannah Cooper 17 Nov 1851 in McLean Ill.
Joseph Milford born 1838 Bloomington Ill Died 1871 Leroy Kansas, married Jane Eliza Sutton 16 Mar 1927 Marlow
Maria Cassandra born 1840 Bloomingtton Ill. died 29 Aug 1919. Married Loche and remarried John Haney
Jane born 1842 Bloomington Ill. unknown death married Steward Baldwin
Mary Kizziah born 1844 Bloomington Ill unknown death Married John Harris and remarried Lou Colliker.

Joseph and Martha had three children:

***According to census records 1875 shows him born in Tennessee 1870 & 1865 census records show him born in North Carolina..there might have been a border boundary line change, esp if he was born where the lines have changed.
